Senuti and the iTunes music folder

If you have iTunes set up to copy songs to your iTunes music folder, and Senuti does not copy songs to this folder, then adding songs to iTunes could be very slow.

Why is copying slowed down?

The songs will be transferred to your computer at the same rate as normal, but when Senuti starts to add songs to iTunes, iTunes will make a copy of each one of these songs, then add it to the iTunes music folder, and then go on to adding the next song. Copying a few gigabytes of music to your computer is slow enough, there is no reason to make a second copy of it.

As of Senuti 0.50, Senuti will detect when iTunes makes duplicates and appropriately remove the copy that you won't be using. Prior versions could leave duplicates files on your computer.

How do I avoid this?

You have two options to avoid this scenario. First, you can turn off the option in iTunes to copy songs to your iTunes music folder. Your other option is to change the save location in Senuti to the same location as that in iTunes.
